Why we do what we do. While my children were growing up we used to make Piñatas as a fun activity for their birthday parties, and when my eldest (Ali) was suffering from mental health issues, I didn’t know how to help or motivate them so I reverted back to making piñatas as a relief strategy and invited Ali to join me.
The more we worked together the more we were able to communicate and relax and positively release what we were both feeling, while navigating through life with its mental health issues. We have experienced the positive effect that this creative outlet can have on individuals suffering poor mental health. As a result, the idea of putting together a series of piñata workshops to support others who are suffering with mental health as well as the carers and family, was born.

Make it and Break It
“Make it and Break It”, comprises of 3 two-and-a-half-hour workshops in Waltham Forest, where participants affected by mental health (directly or indirectly) can decorate their own designed piñata and then smash it if they wish to do so. Over the course you will build and decorate your own piñata and on the final day you have the opportunity to break it. You are under no obligation to ‘complete’ a course nor are you limited to just one if you enjoy it.
This is not run by therapists, counsellors or any other self help organisation. This is run by someone suffering from mental health and someone supporting them; we simply want to share something that helped us.
£8 for one workshop or £22 for the course. (Price per workshop. Refreshments included)
